Entering the Japanese Music Industry by Lynne Hobday & Apryl Peredo

Lynne Hobday: British-born, Japan resident Lynne Hobday is a singer/songwriter, lyricist currently working with Naoko Takeuchi on the 5th SAILOR MOON musical. Lynne is crafting lyrics for about half of the Japanese language songs for the newest edition, and wrote over 50% of the lyrics for 3 of the previous 4 SM musicals, plus a Sailor Moon theme. (Several of the songs from the musical have reached Top 10 sales on iTunes Japan.) In addition to writing Japanese lyrics for this series, she has also worked with such known artists as TMRevolution and L’Arc en Ciel/Hyde on their English language songs, co-writing several for each. As well, she also has written and performs her own themed musical experience in Tokyo, following her character DUSTY PRINCESS.

Apryl Peredo: Apryl is an artist manager living in Tokyo. As a management/promotion consultant, she has worked with various labels and music managers on promotion projects and planning for artists ranging from major label to up-and-coming. Companies and agents she works with handle artists such as Miyavi, My First Story, SiM, Inoran, Man with a Mission, among others. She has been invited to speak at music conferences such as SXSW, mu:con, MIDEM, on Japanese music industry, Japanese music scenes. She has co-written English lyrics for several hugely popular anime themes over the past 5 years. Odd fact: She also has the same hair colorist, stylist and makeup artist as Go Ayano.
