Comic Fiesta IS without a doubt Malaysia’s longest-running and most epic convention that focuses on animation, comics and games (ACG).

CF is Comic Fiesta.

Comic Fiesta IS without a doubt Malaysia’s longest-running and most epic convention that focuses on animation, comics and games (ACG). We take pride in celebrating all aspects of art and creativity (as well as the ever popular ACG culture), collecting all these elements in one location and unleashing this melting pot of human ingenuity to all members of society, both locally and internationally.

Responsible for ushering in the rapidly-expanding ACG community into Malaysia, Comic Fiesta (CF) is proudly an event by fans for fans. This is the first and the biggest non-profit ACG convention in Malaysia, organized by a group of passionate individuals brought together by one common goal, and powered by a massive community of professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts of all age groups.

Since its humble beginnings as a small exhibition at the Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall in 2002, CF has grown exponentially in both size and scope to become the premier ACG event in Malaysia. 2012 marks the tenth anniversary of CF, set to delight close to 20,000 visitors on the 22nd & 23rd of December 2012, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre!

At every iteration of CF, we will showcase:

Creative Art Market

We play host to the largest amateur creative art market in Malaysia, consisting of (at last count) over 100 booths showcasing the best talents Malaysia has to offer in the field of visual arts and illustration. Find an incredible variety of self-published comics, artbooks, posters and other merchandises, many of which make their debut at our event and cannot be found anywhere else!

Cosplay

In a nutshell, cosplay (a portmanteau of costume play) is a fascinating subculture where passionate fans dress up and act as their favourite character from an animated series, film, game, or literary work. Over a thousand passionate cosplayers have graciously lent Comic Fiesta their support throughout the years, making our event home to one of the biggest cosplay community in Malaysia. Step into CF and find it populated with characters from your favourite series, from Naruto and One Piece to Star Wars and Batman, and everything in between!

Besides the obvious showcase of fan loyalty, many of these cosplayers showcase a mind-boggling mastery of fashion and carpentry, as these costumes have complex, multi-layered designs. To look at cosplay as just a hobby is to do a great disservice to the skills in display here!

Games

From stage games and computer games to our very own CF Side Quest (that debuted in CF 2010 to much acclaim), we have activities to keep you occupied and be delighted the entire day. Test your abilities and skills on a wide variety of interests (both electronic and on pen and paper), and have great fun at the same time!

Commercial Booths

Gathering the best animation, comics and games companies Malaysia has to offer, Comic Fiesta showcases both home-grown and international commercial products and works, sure to interest and inspire all ACG fans, as well as general attendees.

Our past sponsors and partners include Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, Animax, and Imaginary Friends Studios, so you can be sure we provide the perfect avenue for companies and individuals to bring their A-game to the mix, pun clearly intended!

For exhibitor and sponsor enquiries, please contact hew@comicfiesta.org.

We cannot wait to show you what CF 2012 has in store! Make a date with us: 22 & 23 December 2012, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. For ticketing enquiries please head on over here.

Comic Fiesta is proud to be powered by fans like you, and here’s an extra special opportunity for you to learn more and really sink your teeth into what it means to be one of the people behind Comic Fiesta.

Traditionally, we would recruit volunteers and brief them one day before CF itself, but starting last year, we have kicked a brand new program that will turn you from a quiet shy helper, to a glorious, loud, dripping-with-awesome Felyne! So what’s this all about?

The Felyne Brigade is a special unit of volunteers who survive a 2-day training camp. Participants will be spending two nights with other campers, learning everything there is to know about Comic Fiesta, directly from the source. If you sign up, you will learn what it’s like to operate in a squad, execute unique maneuvers, and rediscover a new you! More importantly, you might have a chance to listen to our deepest, darkest secrets… (e.g. the color of President Nerv’s favourite undies)

Okay, quick summary time.

When: 19-21 October 2012 (Friday-Sunday)
Where: Multimedia University, Cyberjaya -OR- Taylor’s Lakeside, Petaling Jaya
Pick-up and Drop Off: KL Sentral
Fees: RM30/pax

What are the requirements?
1. This is a CAMP. Please, please remember to bring the following items:
- change of clothes
- toiletries (toothbrush, shampoo, etc.)
- comforter/sleeping bag and/or pillow
- stationery (please include marker pens)
- plastic bags

2. You must be AT LEAST 17 YEARS OLD to join this camp. This is an iron rule, no exceptions.

3. Please also prepare the camp fee of RM30

4. Be at the KL Sentral station on Friday BEFORE 8 P.M. (2000 HRS). We advise you to have dinner first, the first night will be exciting enough as it is, and you won’t have time to eat afterwards.

How do I sign up for this camp?
Registration is now closed. Thank you for your participation!

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between this camp and being a normal volunteer?
Being a normal volunteer means you sign up, and attend for the pre-event briefing, and help out during the event itself which is perfectly fine. You don’t have to pay anything (why should you pay when you’re HELPING us, right?). The Felyne Camp is an optional, but highly recommended, training program where you learn about what CF is all about, and learn how to operate effectively as a powerful, focused unit.

In short, we train you to become cyborg ninja assassins.

Why do I have to pay for this camp?
Running the camp comes with costs such as transportation, facilities, etc. but more importantly, it pays for what you eat during the camp. Rest assured, we will feed you well

Do I have to sleep there? Can I just join the program and sleep at home?
Nope. It’s a CAMP. That means you eat, bathe, sleep, play, laugh, cry, jump, and roll together with everyone else throughout the ENTIRE program. That’s kinda like, the point, actually.

Why hold it at MMU Cyberjaya? Why not, Cameron Highlands, Port Dickson, etc?
The Felyne Camp is proudly supported by EMiNA -Society of Modern Visual Culture, who will be hosting the camp as well as helping us with facilities and ensuring the camp runs smoothly. It’s good to have friends, you know?

Who will facilitate the camp activities?
Why, the committees of Comic Fiesta, of course! Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of you over the weekend. We promise we won’t brainwash you or anything.

Really.

What do I get out of this camp?
Awesome. You will be awesome.
