Volunteering FAQ

Can I cosplay while on duty?

Yes you can, but only light cosplay (absolutely no heavy props like Cloud’s Final Fantasy sword, armor suit like Overwatch’s Reinhardt and overly complex costumes). Kindly ensure full mobility so that you can discharge your duties properly.

What if I come late for volunteering?

Please make it a priority to reach on time as the event depends on you to function smoothly. If by any chance you reach the event hall later than 9.30am, please approach the registration counter so that we may contact your lead.

Will food and accommodation be provided during our volunteering period?

Only lunch will be provided during your volunteering day. We recommend you to get some breakfast/food before the start of your shifts. Water will be provided throughout your shifts as well. Accommodation however, is not provided. Sorry.

The XL shirt might be too small for me. Can I get a bigger size shirt?

Drop us an email at hr@comicfiesta.org regarding your request. We will try to accommodate you but there is no guarantee.

How much will I be paid if I volunteer for Comic Fiesta?

As this is a volunteering activity, there will be no allowance. There is however, other benefits such as but not limited to, appreciation dinner, free goodies, and if you’re lucky, guests’ autographs as well.

What if I have an emergency and couldn’t attend the event after being accepted as a volunteer? Will I get blacklisted?

As emergencies are bound to happen, we appreciate if you would drop us an email or text your leader informing your absence. We will only blacklist volunteers if there is no updates regarding your absence.

Can I choose which department to be in?

If you wanted to be under specific departments, please register during the department’s open recruitment. Else, if you know the head of the department personally, you can request it from them as well.

Can I request the area for me to work in? (Stage, Exhibitor’s area, Ticketing etc)

You can request it but we won’t necessarily comply or grant them.

As a volunteer, do I need to purchase tickets as well?

Volunteers do not need to purchase tickets to enter the event. They will be given tags instead that allows them unlimited access (except off-limits places). However, if you are caught abusing the tags, we will confiscate it from you and you might be looking at a permanent ban.

What kind of clothes should we wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing that you can move around easily in. We will provide you with an official crew t-shirt that you will need to wear while on duty so that event goers can recognize you as a volunteer.

When can I get my certificate?

You can get your certificate at the end of the shift of your last day of volunteering. Say If you only volunteered for day 1, you can get your certs at the end of day 1 shift.

Do I really need to attend the Workshop?

No, the workshop is not compulsory. However, the workshop is a great introduction to Comic Fiesta and participants of our previous workshops (or camps) had great fun and met lovely friends! We strongly encourage first-timers to join our workshop.

(There is no camp for Comic Fiesta 2022)

How do I know whether I am selected or not?

We will send the confirmation e-mail to you upon selection. Make sure you have given the correct email to avoid miscommunication.

When will we know about the results?

Rough estimation, the results will be out somewhere around end of November or early December. It will take time for us to go through all of the application, so these dates are not final.

If I have been selected as a volunteer, can I refund the tickets that I have bought earlier?

Unfortunately, all ticket sales are final.
